Dermatopathology

Dermatopathology is a specialized branch of pathology that focuses on the study and diagnosis of skin diseases at a microscopic level. Dermatopathologists analyze skin biopsies, examining tissue samples obtained from skin lesions, rashes, tumors, and other skin abnormalities. They use a combination of histological techniques, including microscopy, immunohistochemistry, and molecular pathology, to identify and characterize skin diseases such as dermatitis, melanoma, psoriasis, and infections like fungal or viral skin conditions. The findings of dermatopathology help guide clinicians in the accurate diagnosis and management of various dermatological conditions.
